Plant It Up & Soften Your Space With Some Floral Touches

Plants and Floral Displays Make Space Feel Complete...

The use of plants in modern interior design is getting more and more popular. Floral displays and use of plants makes spaces more appealing and alive...and if you use real plants, they also play a role in your overall health. Indoor plants can be used as accent pieces, to soften areas or even to create a certain expression. The colour of the flowers or plants can also add contrast or cohesion to your rooms over all scheme - this is a useful accessorising trick used by interior designers the world over.

Tips to add plants in modern interior design:

1: ANALYZE THE SPACE:

The first step of adding plants in your designs, is analysing the space and understanding the strongest and weakest points of a room. Observe which part of the space could be brightened up and where could you add more detail to the negative space in the scheme. Walk around the room and look and check it out from different perspectives, this will help you choose the best spot to make your statement.

2: CHOOSE THE STYLE AND NARROW IT DOWN

Start thinking what plant would look better in the interior you are designing. At this point, try and be sympathetic to the the room and the scheme you have chosen...ultra modern may look better with a very minimal flower display or more basic plant shape e.g. a succulent or cactus.

3: DON’T CLUTTER THE SPACE

Top Tip...Don’t clutter your space, Floral 'accents' are the key here...take into account the size and proportions of your space when making choices.

4: USING LARGE PLANTS:

Large plants make a statement in a room. They are perfect for minimalistic interiors where you want to emphasise certain part of the design but don’t want to overcrowd the room. It is really important to carefully choose a pot or planter that goes with your design to create the look and feel you desire. Tall plants take the eye upwards, this can be great for a room with high ceilings, as it helps to balance the proportions.

5: USING SMALL PLANTS:

Small plants or a small pot/vase with a few flowers look beautiful in any interior. Perfect for coffee tables or occasional seating areas, they soften and feminise a space.
